CE-IoT aims to create an innovative framework that combines Circular Economy and IoT, revolutionizing products, services, business models, and ecosystems.

The framework will focus on two dimensions of circularity:

1. Developing new business models and service supply chains to unlock synergies between CE-IoT, benefiting customers and increasing resource productivity. This will involve creating ecosystems that eliminate negative externalities and reduce resource consumption.
2. Creating an open circular-by-design IoT architecture that integrates smart IoT objects (such as sensors, devices, and systems) with proven circularity-enabling properties. This architecture will maximize resource and data utilization in circular-by-design IoT ecosystems.

To achieve its goals, CE-IoT will undertake research and innovation activities to:

Establish a comprehensive framework that highlights IoT as a key enabling technology for circular economy, with a focus on business perspectives and circular economy design patterns.
Develop an open modular circular-by-design IoT architecture based on IoT architectural design patterns.
Integrate a pattern-driven CE-IoT framework that covers both business and technical aspects.

CE-IoT will evaluate the framework comprehensively, considering business, technical, and legal aspects, through two demonstrations in the domains of telecommunication and cloud services. It aims to seamlessly integrate circular economy principles with IoT technology and expand the adoption of the CE-IoT framework.
